The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts. He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD. Proverbs 17:14-15
Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. Proverbs 16:32
In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Psalm 4:4
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. Psalm 37:8
A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated. Proverbs 14:17
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. Proverbs 15:18
A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11
It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel Proverbs 20:3
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. Proverbs 22:24-25
An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. Proverbs 29:22
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay, "says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. Colossians 3:21
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:25-27
Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful 2 Timothy 2:23-24

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John 15:1-8)
Be blessed saints.

The mouth has many colors of words that brings forth wise advice, encouragement, twisting truth, curses, rebellion and etc…
Here, we will learn about the many colors of rainbow words in the mouth. There are four kind of tongues in the mouth which the book of Proverbs gives special attention of their words and how they are used. The four tongues are. (1) The Wisdom Tongue: Those with this speech pattern think before speaking, know when silence is best, and give wise advice. (Proverbs 10:19; 11:12-13; 12:18; 13:3; 15:1,4,28; 16:23, 17:14,27,28; 21:23; 24:26);
As we go further, lets hear from James what he say concerning “Wisdom tongue” (James 3:17-18). Two constant demands of a child of God are a positive attitude and appropriate action. However, it is an application of "wisdom from above" that drives these demands. Note (James 3:13) “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. "Meekness of wisdom" calls for the proper attitude towards power (meekness) accompanied by the proper attitude towards knowledge (wisdom). The truly wise Christian will demonstrate both of these characteristics as they go about their daily lives.
Wisdom from above is in direct contrast with wisdom that proceeds from an envious and self-seeking heart (James 3:14,15).
*The wrong kind of wisdom is earthly, sensual, and devilish. Earthly in that it measures its successes in worldly terms and its aims are worldly aims; sensual in that its source is our animal instinct not our spiritual man; and devilish in that its source is Satan and is designed to produce results that he would delight in.
*The wrong kind of wisdom is arrogant and designed to create factions and produce jealousy (James 3:16) Instead of bringing people together wrong wisdom drives them apart; instead of producing peace it produces strife; and it is particularly designed by Satan to agitate personal relationships.
* The wrong kind of wisdom is exemplified in numerous Bible accounts such as:
The Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9).
Abraham's decision to go to Egypt (Genesis 12:10-20).
King Saul's decision to put his armor on the young David (1 Samuel 17:38).
The disciples thought the crowd should be dismissed to find their own food (Matthew. 14:15).
The centurion (under the helmsman's advice) determining to leave port against Paul's warning (Acts 27:9-11).Wisdom from above has its origins with God, not man. Its character is heavenly and not earthly. It is God's gift and must be received from Him. Note James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. For Solomon's view on wisdom from above see (Proverbs. 2:1-6). "Above" is where Christians are always looking. Consider:
* Their citizenship is there (Philippians 3:20).
* Their Father is there (Matthew. 6:9).
*Their treasures are laid up there (Matthew. 6:19).
*They are reborn to gain entrance there (John 3:1-7).
*Their home and hope are there (John14:1-6)
*Their affections and attention are aimed there (Colossians 3:1-4).
There is no real surprise that true Christians seek their wisdom from above and not from man.
What is the Christian's Wisdom?
* Jesus Christ is our wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24, 30) ... Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God... In Him "are hid all treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:3)
* The Word of God is our wisdom (Read: Deuteronomy 4:4-6) It is only from the scriptures that we can become "wise unto salvation." (2 Tim. 3:15)
* This wisdom can be accentuated through believing prayer. (James 1:5) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Characteristics of “wisdom tongue” that is from above (James 3:17,18)
Pure - from a Greek word meaning: pure enough to approach the gods. Originally meaning ritually pure, it came to mean morally pure. This is the purity that Paul feared the Corinthians would lose: "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ." (2 Corinthians 11:3) And James feared lack of this purity would lead his readers to spiritual adultery "Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." (James 4:4) While much worldly wisdom would obviously not want to be scrutinized by God, true wisdom has had its concealed motives excised and is prepared to be seen by God.
Peaceable - in a right relationship with God and man. True wisdom will always bring men closer to one another and to God at the same time. When peace rules (arbitrates) in our lives tranquility will prevail and contentment will be in power. (Colossians 3:15): "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.").
This peaceable attitude is in contrast to:
* Arrogant wisdom which separates man from man by setting up rivalries (James 4:1-2).
*Cruel wisdom that finds pleasure in hurting others with clever or cutting words.
*Depraved wisdom which seduces men from their loyalty to God.
Gentle - from a word that cannot be directly translated from the original. (It also appears in (Philippians 4:5) and (1 Timothy. 3:3) It has been defined as "justice and better than justice;" and as "that which steps in to correct things when the law becomes unjust." Matthew Arnold called it "sweet reasonableness." It's the ability to apply the Golden Rule. The man who can apply this principle is able to forgive when justice gives him the perfect right to condemn. A spiritually sick friend needs the same consideration given to a physically sick friend. Gentle wisdom teaches a man: how to make allowances, when not to stand up for his rights, how to temper justice with mercy, and to remember that man-made rules are not an end-all in God's eyes. However, a true Christian will not compromise the truth to keep the peace.
Willing to yield - might mean either "ever ready to obey" or "easy to persuade." I can see it either way. A truly wise man is ready to listen and obey whenever God's word is spoken, and should be easily persuaded (not almost persuaded) by God's word. He is ready and willing to abandon a course once it shown to be wrong. As James said earlier in his epistle: "...let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath..."(James 1:19).
[Note: the previous characteristics point to our attitude of heart; the following characteristics are our call to action.]
Full of mercy and good fruits - This the same injunction made by Christ in (Luke 6:36): Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
In Christian thought mercy:
* Indicates mercy for the man even if his troubles are of his own making. Our mercy must reflect God's mercy in this respect. Godly mercy expects no reward (The Good Samaritan).
*Indicates that good fruits must be a result of the mercy. Here is an action word showing us that practical help for those in need must be available. There is no true pity without helping the one pitied! What has James already taught in James 1:27 and James 2:15,16? "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble..." and "If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?"
Undivided - (without partiality). Not wavering or vacillating. Choosing a course and keeping to it. Many who say they are keeping an open mind are just refusing to make up their mind; in the spiritual realm this is fatal! True wisdom is based on the certainties laid down for us from God through Christ. The fundamentals of faith are not obscure but are easily grasped. Our convictions are based on our faith in Christ and in God's word.
Sincere - (without hypocrisy) it is neither an act nor deception. It is pretending to be nothing that it is not and does not have its own ends in sight. Hypocrisy in attitude is just as fatal to our spiritual lives as hypocrisy in deeds. Those without hypocrisy are: sincere, open in their dealings, and without deceit.
The Results-Worldly wisdom produces trouble - envy, strife, and disorder that comes from instability and works that are worthless and of no account (James 3:16). Not only must we avoid worldly wisdom as individuals but must also avoid it as a congregation of God's people. Battles among so-called Christians, church splits, operating the church according to business principles instead of God's word and the absence of purity and peace point out that "something" is wrong - would not that "something" the absence of true wisdom?
God's wisdom produces blessing (James 3:18) - "And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." Remember, this peace includes a right relationship among the brethren. The seed can only be sown and flourish when this peace exists between the one sowing the seed and the fertile ground. Nothing good will grow in an atmosphere where men are at variance with one another. (Matthew 5:9) reads: "Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God." With our verse under consideration is it any wonder that the peacemakers have such a close relationship with God the Father? Peace is a fruit of righteousness and it becomes the field in which righteousness and all that comes from righteousness flourishes. Christ is our peace through whom we are reconciled to God. (Ephesians 2:14) "For he is our peace, who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility." His peace is available through keeping his commandments and includes peace within ourselves, with one another and with God.
We are what we live and what we live is what we sow! Living by man's wisdom will sow sin and strife and we will reap confusion and worthless works. Living by God's wisdom will sow righteousness and peace; we will reap God's blessings.
God hates a troublemaker! (Read Proverbs 6:16-19) Lot followed the wisdom of the world and his holdings literally went up in smoke. Abraham based his decision on God's wisdom and his choice eventually led to blessings upon the whole world!
(Proverbs 3:13) "Happy is the man who makes discovery of wisdom, and he who gets knowledge."
(2) The Knowledge Tongue: Those with this speech pattern speak truthfully while seeking to encourage. (Proverbs 10:32; 12:18-19, 25; 15:23; 16:14; 25:15; 27:9);
The source of all right tongues of knowledge?
As the bible tells us in (Proverbs 2:6) NIV “For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”
God is the great Educator! In a real sense salvation is largely a matter of knowing God Himself personally. The world is filled with false values, so there is an obvious need to recapture biblical values. Reliable knowledge of these true values comes from only one source- God's Word, the Holy Bible. God communicates His standards to us through the Scriptures.
Yet it must be said here that, although God's Revelation, the Holy Bible, is the foundation of all right knowledge.
All deceptive knowledge are not built upon God's Word; they will ultimately fail and disappear.
What is one vital key to obtaining the tongues of knowledge?
The book of (Proverbs 2:1-6) tells us:
"My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God."
To treasure and earnestly seek God's way sums up the essence of this passage. Jesus Christ echoed this sublime principle in the Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6). The New Testament is built on the Old Testament, which in turn points forward to the New. The one is incomplete and inadequate without the other. King David wrote that "all Your commandments are righteousness" (Psalm 119:172). Obedience and righteousness complement each other.
To obey God, what other quality do we desperately need?
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge . . ." (Proverbs 1:7).
The fear of God is not the fear of the world or the fear of man, which "brings a snare" (Proverbs 29:25).
A major aspect of the fear of God is to trust and place your confidence in Him.
So often our fears are unnecessary. God tells us: "I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die, and of the son of a man who will be made like grass? And you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth" (Isaiah 51:12-13).
God is our Creator. He made us and our environment. We owe our very existence to Him. We should fear the consequences of ignoring His teachings, instructions and commandments revealed through His Word.
What group of people especially needs the fear of God?
"The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion" (Proverbs 1:1-4).
Our young men and women—the next generation—will soon shape the future. Only the sure knowledge of the Bible can help them cope with the challenges of the new millennium. How thankful we should be that we and they have a reliable spiritual guide that was "written down for future generations" (Psalm 102:18) KJV
“This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.”
(3) The Deceiving Tongue: Those with this speech pattern are filled with wrong motives, gossip, slander, and a desire to twist truth (Proverbs 6:12-14; 8:13; 16:28; 18:8; 25:18; 26:20-28);
The Bible also expressed the characteristic of deceiving tongue in the following scriptures:
(Romans 3:13) “A sepulcher opened 'is' their throat; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of asps 'is' under their lips.”
(1 Timothy 4:1) “Now the Spirit expressly declares that in later times some will fall away from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and the teachings of demons;”
(2 Timothy 3:13) “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and
being deceived.”
(James 1:22) “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
(James 1:26) “If a man thinks that he is scrupulously religious, although he is not curbing his tongue but is deceiving himself, his religious service is worthless”
(4) The Devilish Tongue: Those with this speech pattern filled with lies, curses, quick-empered words-which can lead to rebellion and destruction. (Proverbs 10:18, 32; 11:9; 15:4; 17:9; 20:19; 25:23).
The book of (James 3:15-16) KJV tells us how the “Devilish tongue” performs:
v.15 “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
v.16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
These verses in the book of James show the difference between men's pretending to be wise, and their being really so. He who thinks well, or he who talks well without the backing of God’s word, is not wise in the sense of Scripture, if he does not act and live well by God’s Word. True wisdom may be know by the meekness of the spirit and temper. Those who live in malice, envy, and contention, live in confusion; and are liable to be provoked and hurried to any evil work. Such wisdom comes not down from above, but springs up from earthly principles; acts on earthly motives, and is intent on serving earthly purposes.
What we say probably affects more people than any other action we take. The four common speech patterns as described in Proverbs and others scriptures. The first two are to be copied in our daily lives, while the last two should be avoided. Please read these scriptures above from your Bible as to be part of your daily Christian’s walk; so that you won’t be a stumbling block in someone’s life. Because the word we speak can encourage or discourage someone from believing or disbelieving the God we serve.
As the Bible tells us in (1 Peter 4:11) KJV:
“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Please permit me to ask you. How is our God praised when we use our words or abilities? I think the answer will be, “when we use them appropriately as He (God) directs, to help others.” They will see Jesus in us and praise Him for the help they have received.
In the reading of the above verse, Peter may have been thinking of Jesus’ word. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
If we need prosperity in every areas of life, we have to abide in the word of God:
(John 15:7) KJV
“If you abide in me, and My word abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
The mouth, at one moment, will be controlled by the abundance of the heart, and at the next moment, controlled by the unstable emotions of the mind. The Bible says in
(Matthew 12:34-35) KJV
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
When is the heart good or bad? Well, a good heart must be a combination of a regenerated Spirit, a renewed mind, and a living sacrificed body.
The words proceeding from us should be directed in a way that they will agree with God’s Word at all times. As we get our complete heart obeying God’s directions, we will produce God directed words. Many people go from day to day hoping noting bad will happen to them that they can’t handle. Then, when the problem arises (because of what they’ve been saying and thinking), they try to change things in a few moments of prayer and tears, not realizing that over a period of years, their words actually caused what happened. You see, meditating continually on the lies of the devil builds doubt and unbelief in your spirit until it overflows in abundance into your mouth. Then it is released in words of fear and takes action.
In the bible we read that David while shepherding sheep had built himself up by singing words of the Holy Spirit to himself. The Bible tells us in (Colossians 3:16 )
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
That is why when he faced a giant (or as in our case, a crisis), he knew that the word hid in his heart granted him victory. He knew deeply within his spirit that he was more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). He didn’t have to have a quick boost, because he was fueled up already, for he “studied to shew himself approved unto God. (2 Timothy 2:15). He took the Word of God” and deposited it in his heart just like one would deposit money in the bank, and he was able to make withdrawals on it when needed.
We as Christians must determine in our hearts to confess the Word of God over any and every situation, regardless of what the situation looks like. But we must not speak negative or against God’s word because what you say is what you get.
Be blessed Saints
